NORTH COUNTRY MAINTENANCE INC.

North Country Maintenance Inc. ("NCM") is a highway maintenance and repair contractor, and a heavy earth mover with 100 pieces of CAT equipment, of all sizes.

Doug Gordon, the owner, has lived in Fort Nelson for over 55 years, and has worked in the heavy construction field for over 40 years.  Doug gained much of his experience from his father, Don Gordon, who was the first federal maintenance contractor along the Alaska Highway, in 1960.  Doug grew up operating and repairing equipment, and purchased his first grader from his father, at the age of 17.  He operated the grader at various locations on the Alaska Highway, and was foreman for Don Gordon Ltd. at the age of 19.  Doug incorporated his first company on March 31, 1974.  He purchased the first grader that year, and in 1977 purchased his first Cat, and went cutting seismic lines for Tompkins Contracting, out of Fort Nelson.

Over the past 40+ years of work, Doug has constructed various sections of the Alaska Highway for the Federal Government, across north-eastern British Columbia and the Yukon.  The value of these contracts has exceeded $100,000,000.  Doug has over 30 years of experience working on Alaska Highway maintenance and repair, which has ultimately grown into the business that NCM is today.  In addition to the Federal Government work, Doug has constructed roads, leases, and plant sites for all major oil companies operating in the Fort Nelson area.
